회문, 본질을 담다

주거공간을 기획하면서 가장 처음 가지게 된 질문은 집은 어떤 방향성을 가져야 하는가였다. 아파트가 주를 이루는 대한민국의 주거문화 속에서, 단독주택은 다른 이야기를 품을 수 있으리라 생각했다. 그 차이는 바로 사용자, 즉 건축주의 본질을 담아내는 데서 시작된다고 느꼈다. 사실 드라마 속 가족은 우영우와 아버지 우광호, 단 둘뿐이었다. 하지만 나는 숨겨진 어머니 태수미와 이복동생 최상혁을 더해, 네 사람의 이야기를 품는 집을 상상했다. 그 출발점은 우영우라는 인물의 특성을 이해하는 일이었다. #자폐 스펙트럼 #신입 변호사 #기러기, 토마토, 인도인, 별똥별, 우영우 #반복 #천재적인 기억력. 똑바로 읽어도, 거꾸로 읽어도 같은 이름. 그 특성에서 영감을 받아 이번 프로젝트의 컨셉를 정했다. “똑바로 읽어도, 거꾸로 읽어도 우영우. 회문적인 집.”

When I began planning a residential space, the very first question I asked myself was: What kind of direction should a home take? In a housing culture where apartments dominate in Korea, I believed that a detached house could tell a different story. That difference, I felt, begins with capturing the essence of the user—the very identity of the client. In the drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, the family consists of only Woo Young-woo and her father, Woo Gwang-ho. Yet, in my interpretation, I imagined adding her estranged mother, Tae Soo-mi, and her half-brother, Choi Sang-hyeok, envisioning a home for a family of four. The starting point was to understand the character of Woo Young-woo herself: #Autism Spectrum #Rookie Lawyer #Giraffe, Tomato, Indian, Shooting Star, Woo Young-woo #Repetition #Exceptional Memory A name that reads the same forwards and backwards. From these qualities, I drew inspiration and defined the concept of this project: “Woo Young-woo, the same forwards and backwards. A palindromic house.”
