본 프로젝트는 정형 평면을 2개의 점에서 뻗어 나오는 사선 그리드에 맞추어 변형하며 부정형 공간으로 발전시킨 작업이다. 2점 그리드를 선택한 이유는 큼직한 매스들의 조합으로 이루어진 기존 평면 구성에 가장 적합하다고 판단했기 때문이며, 이를 통해 사다리꼴 형태가 만들어지며 좁아졌다 넓어지는 역동적인 흐름을 부여할 수 있었다. 전반적인 매스의 프로그램과 창의 위치는 정형과 동일하지만, 매스를 비틀고 기울여 부정형 특유의 긴장감과 날카로운 형태를 살렸다. 특히 2층 전시 공간 매스는 기울여 불안감을 주는 반면, 바로 아래 매스는 안정적으로 넓어지도록 설계해 대비 속의 조화를 이루게 하였다. 또한 슬로프가 있는 공간의 창문을 삼각형으로 쪼개어 비정형적 볼륨을 형성하고, 천장과 벽의 기울기를 달리하여 다양한 변형과 흐름을 만들었다. 매스들은 서로 겹치고 얽히며 연결성을 가지고, 중앙 보이드 매스는 위로 갈수록 좁아지게 하여 동굴처럼 은폐된 공간성을 연출하였다. 1층 벽의 높이에 변화를 주어 2층 매스와 유기적으로 맞물리게 하고, 매스 간의 위계를 흐름 속에서 드러나게 함으로써 정형의 단순한 변주를 넘어선 새로운 공간적 긴장과 유기성을 구현하였다.
This project transforms a regular floor plan into an irregular spatial composition by deforming it according to a diagonal grid extending from two points. The two-point grid was chosen as it was deemed most suitable for reorganizing the existing plan composed of large masses. Through this, trapezoidal forms were generated, imparting a dynamic flow of narrowing and widening. While the overall program and window placement remain consistent with the regular plan, the masses were twisted and tilted to capture the tension and sharpness unique to irregularity. In particular, the second-floor exhibition mass is inclined to evoke unease, while the mass directly beneath it broadens for stability, creating harmony within contrast. Furthermore, windows in sloped spaces were divided into triangular fragments to form irregular volumes, and varied inclinations of ceilings and walls introduced diverse transformations and flows. The masses overlap, intertwine, and maintain connectivity, while the central void narrows upward, producing a cave-like sense of enclosure. On the first floor, variations in wall height organically interlock with the second-floor mass, allowing the hierarchy among masses to emerge through flow. In this way, the project transcends a mere variation of the regular plan, achieving new spatial tension and organic unity.
